Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet
- flaked salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet over low heat for 5 minutes. Melt the butter in the skillet and mix in the sugars using a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat once melted.
- Whisk together the egg and egg yolks in a separate bowl, add to the skillet mixture quickly to prevent cooking, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Remove any excess flour from the skillet if necessary.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt before serving.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using brown sugar or a mix of milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Serve immediately for the best texture—cold cookies will lose that chewy center!
For easier cleanup, use parchment paper to line the skillet.
