Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices bacon, chopped into small pieces
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 large green cabbage, chopped into square pieces
- 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
- salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium high heat until crispy, about 5-8 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside. Drain about half the bacon drippings, keeping the rest in the pan for flavor.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the onions. Cook until they are soft and translucent, about five minutes. Then, add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the cabbage to the skillet along with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well, cover the pan, and let cook on medium low for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the cabbage is tender, mix in the reserved bacon and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Using thick cut bacon adds extra flavor and texture.
Feel free to adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
