Description
This Crockpot Onion Dip is a delightful blend of caramelized onions and creamy goodness, making it an ideal appetizer for parties or casual get-togethers. Easy to prepare, it combines onions, sour cream, and cream cheese for an irresistible flavor that everyone will love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Slice each onion in half, discard the ends and peel them. Cut each half into thin strips.
- Place the sliced onions in a crockpot. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and mix to coat evenly. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
- Once the onions are cooked, stir in the sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and hot sauce. Mix well until thoroughly combined. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary. If you like a thicker dip, consider draining excess juices from the onions.
- To serve hot, keep the dip warm in the crockpot. For a cold dip, transfer to a container and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
Cooking the onions overnight on low adds incredible flavor to the dip.
For a twist, feel free to add grated cheese or herbs to the dip mixture.
Serve with your favorite crackers or veggies for dipping.
