Description

This Elegant Graduation Cake features a delightful blend of yellow and chocolate cakes, topped with a charming fondant cap. It’s the ideal centerpiece for celebrating academic achievements, combining great taste with a visually stunning design.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Yellow sheet cake
  • 2 Chocolate sheet cake
  • 1 Cotton candy cake
  • 10 cups American buttercream frosting (Tinted yellow with gel food coloring)
  • 4 cups Marshmallow fondant (2 cups of black and 2 cups of white)
  • 1 batch Rice krispie treats (Can also use store-bought )

Instructions

  1. Bake 2 yellow sheet cakes, 2 chocolate sheet cakes, and 1 cotton candy dome cake. Cool completely.
  2. Prepare the yellow buttercream frosting.
  3. For the cap cake: Frost the dome cake with buttercream and chill for 20 minutes. Roll black fondant over it and trim excess.
  4. Create a square cap top with cardboard and cover with black fondant after icing.
  5. Add a small circular piece on top of the cap using corn syrup and a ribbon.
  6. Secure the cap to the dome with melted chocolate or royal icing.
  7. For the diploma, shape rice krispie treats into a cylinder, cover with buttercream and roll in white fondant, trimming excess.
  8. Add fondant circles to the diploma log and wrap with a red ribbon.
  9. Assemble the cake by stacking the chocolate sheet cakes and frosted yellow sheet cakes on top.
  10. Pipe roses with yellow icing around the cake.
  11. Position the cap and diploma on the cake and support with dowels. Decorate the cake board with 'Congratulations Class of 2024' letters.

Notes

Make sure cakes are entirely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
Use a clean workspace to avoid contamination when handling fondant and decorating.
