Description

This Hot Dog Chili is a flavorful blend of savory beef, sweet tomatoes, and spices. Quick to prepare and perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings, it’s a hearty comfort food that everyone loves!


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 teaspoons white sugar (or to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  • Brown the meat: Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic in a Dutch oven until the beef is browned and onions are translucent (6-8 minutes).
  • Stir in the tomatoes: Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, sugar, salt, and pepper and mix well.
  • Bring to a simmer: Increase heat to bring chili to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
  • Spoon and serve: Ladle chili over hot dogs or serve in bowls, garnished with optional toppings.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 hours, or refrigerate for about 4 days.
For longer storage, freeze in safe containers for up to 3 months. Reheat on medium heat, adding water or broth if needed to refresh consistency.
