- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups butter (softened)
- 6 eggs
- 1 ½ tbsp vanilla
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 4 cups confectioner's sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2–3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Prepare four 9-inch round cake pans by spraying them with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, then beat again until well combined.
- Incorporate the flour, baking powder, and salt into the mixture. Beat until combined.
- Slowly pour in the milk while continuously beating until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter equally into four bowls.
- Add a different color of food coloring gel to each bowl, mixing well to achieve your desired vibrancy.
- Transfer each color of batter into a prepared cake pan.
- Bake the cakes for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool for 15 minutes before flipping them onto parchment paper. Cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat together the softened butter and confectioner's sugar until crumbly.
- Mix in the vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk; continue beating.
- Add more milk as needed to reach your desired consistency.
- Assemble the cake by layering each color with frosting between them.
- Finish by adding frosting and sprinkles on top.
Notes
Make sure the butter is softened for easier mixing.
Feel free to use your choice of food dye for a personalized touch.
If frosting is too thick, add more milk gradually.
