These Oatmeal Molasses Dinner Rolls are soft, warm, and packed with flavor. With wholesome oats and a hint of sweetness from molasses, they make the perfect side for any meal, or a delightful breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- Warm Water (1 cup, about 110°F/43°C)
- Whole Milk (1/3 cup, about 110°F/43°C)
- Platinum Yeast (1 Tablespoon)
- Brown Sugar (3 Tablespoons, divided)
- Molasses (3 Tablespoons)
- Unsalted Butter (4 Tablespoons)
- Old-Fashioned Whole Rolled Oats (1 cup)
- Bread Flour (3 and 1/2 cups)
- Salt (1 teaspoon)
- Egg Wash (1 egg white beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
Instructions
- Mix warm water, milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar in a bowl, let sit until foamy.
- Add remaining brown sugar, molasses, butter, oats, salt, and part of the bread flour to the yeast mixture.
- Knead for 5-8 minutes until the dough is soft and slightly tacky.
- Let dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a cloth for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape dough into 15 pieces, place in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Allow to rise again for 30-60 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F, brush rolls with egg wash, and bake for 26-27 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool in pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.
For a richer flavor, consider adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg.
You can make the dough ahead and let it rise overnight in the fridge.
