This Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish features a flaky puff pastry filled with creamy, sweetened cream cheese and topped with strawberry jam. Perfect for breakfast or a delightful snack, this simple recipe delivers a burst of flavor in every bite!

- 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 17.3 oz. box puff pastry dough, (2 sheets), thawed but refrigerated
- ½ cup strawberry jam, other flavors also work
- 1 tsp orange or lemon zest, (optional)
- 1 tbsp milk, any type works
- 1 tbsp turbinado sugar, or use granulated sugar
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a medium bowl until smooth, about 1 minute.
- Unfold and lay out the puff pastry sheets on the baking sheet, keeping the middle section intact for the filling.
- Cut 1-inch strips from the folded edges towards the middle, leaving the center attached.
- Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the uncut middle section of the pastry sheets.
- Mix strawberry jam with optional zest and place it over the cream cheese filling, about ¼ cup for each pastry.
- Fold the outer slits over the filling in a crisscross pattern to form a braid.
- Brush milk over the top of the Danish to wet the visible pastry strands.
- Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top before baking.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool for 15 minutes before glazing. Prepare glaze with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until pourable.
- Pour the glaze over the top, allow it to set, then slice and serve.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
Feel free to experiment with different fruit jams based on your taste preference.
These Danishes are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container.
