Description

These delightful Valentine Cinnamon & Spice Palmiers are a perfect treat, combining warm cinnamon and nutmeg with puff pastry for a simple yet delicious dessert that will warm your heart.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb homemade rough puff pastry or store-bought frozen puff pastry
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare your dough and chill it well.
  • Mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom in bowls.
  • Roll out the dough and sprinkle with sugar mixture.
  • Sprinkle filling over dough, roll it up, and chill again.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  • Slice the logs into 3/8-inch pieces and arrange on baking sheets.
  • Sprinkle tops with sugar mixture and bake for 8-9 minutes, flip, and bake again until golden brown.
  • Cool before serving.

Notes

These palmiers are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 5 minutes to regain crispiness.
For gluten-free options, substitute with your favorite gluten-free puff pastry.
