- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Prepare a 9×13 inch pan with non-stick spray.
- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir to mix thoroughly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs until smoothly blended.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Peel and chop 4 cups of apples, then fold them into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the glaze, melt butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently until it simmers.
- Remove the glaze from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the warm glaze over the cake.
Notes
For extra flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
The cake can be served warm or at room temperature.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
