Description

This Butterscotch Sauce features a rich, buttery flavor that’s perfect for desserts. With only a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious sauce to drizzle over your favorite treats, making it an easy addition to any meal or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the brown sugar and heavy whipping cream once the butter is melted; stir until it begins to boil.
  3. Let boil without stirring for 3 minutes once it reaches a full boil.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Transfer the sauce to a jar and allow it to cool before covering.
  6. The sauce will thicken as it cools. If refrigerated, it will solidify. To reheat, microwave for about 30 seconds, then stir.

Notes

For a decadent flavor, use high-quality vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste.
Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
This sauce pairs wonderfully with ice cream, cakes, and pancakes.
