Description

These Cinnamon Raisin Hot Cross Buns are a sweet treat perfect for any occasion. Their irresistible flavor comes from a delightful mix of cinnamon and raisins, making them a fantastic choice for quick breakfasts or as a comforting snack. Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 cups all purpose white flour (you may need more or less depending on how dry your kitchen is)
  • 1/2 cup california raisins
  • oil for brushing bowl
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp icing sugar

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, and sugar, then stir. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Incorporate eggs, water, salt, butter, and cinnamon into the yeast mixture and blend well.
  • Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a dough ball forms.
  • Mix in the raisins until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Brush a bowl with oil, place the dough inside, and let it rise for 90 minutes in a warm spot while covered with a moist towel.
  • After the initial rise, divide the dough into either 9 large balls or 12 smaller ones, and arrange them on a baking pan.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Allow the dough balls to rise again for 30 minutes, keeping them covered with a moist towel.
  • Brush the tops of the buns with an egg wash.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Combine water and icing sugar until you reach a thick consistency, and transfer it into a piping bag.
  • Let the buns cool completely before piping a cross on each.
  • Serve with butter and enjoy!

You can adjust the amount of raisins according to your taste preference.
