Description

This Doctored Up White Cake Mix offers an irresistible flavor and simple prep. With cake mix, sour cream, and almond extract, it’s ideal for quick, delightful desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 15.25-ounce box white cake mix
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 egg whites or 3 whole eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325℉ and grease a 9×13-inch pan. See notes below if making a layered cake.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl or a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, flour, and sugar.
  3. Add in the sour cream, milk, egg whites, melted butter, and both extracts if using.
  4. Beat the mixture for 1 minute, scraping the sides halfway through.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

To make a layered cake, adjust baking times accordingly.
Ensure butter is melted and slightly cooled for the best texture.
Feel free to customize flavors or frostings as desired.
