Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ cup heavy cream or milk
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Pound chicken breasts to about ½ to ¾ inch thickness for even cooking or slice large breasts in half.
- Season both sides of the chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Dredge the chicken in flour, shaking off any excess flour.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until golden brown. The chicken does not need to be fully cooked at this stage and should be set aside.
Notes
For a richer gravy, consider using chicken thighs instead of breasts.
Test the seasoning of the gravy with additional salt and pepper to your liking.
Fresh parsley not only enhances flavor but also adds a pop of color as a garnish.
