Description

This Easy Homemade Cherry Pie features fresh cherries, a buttery crust, and a delightful sweetness that will satisfy any dessert lover. Ideal for gatherings or a comforting treat at home, it’s simple to prepare and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 cup Butter Flavored Crisco
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3–4 tbsp Cold Water
  • 4 cups Fresh Cherries, Pitted
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, Crisco, and salt. Gradually stir in cold water until combined.
  3. Divide the dough in half. Roll out the first half on a well-floured surface and place it into a pie pan, pressing gently.
  4. Roll out the second half of the dough and set aside on a floured surface.
  5. Pit the cherries and in a medium saucepan, combine them with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, butter, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until thickened.
  6. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust in the pie pan.
  7. Cover with the second rolled-out dough, pinch the edges to seal, and trim any excess.
  8. Create slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
  10. Lower the oven temperature to 375 degrees and continue baking for an additional 30-45 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

For an extra sweet touch, add a bit more sugar to the cherry filling if desired.
Ensure cherries are pitted to avoid any tough bites in the pie.
Allow the pie to cool before slicing to help the filling set.
