Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the grated garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for 1 minute.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes and sugar, then reduce the heat to low.
  5. Simmer the mixture for about 20 minutes, allowing it to thicken.
  6. Stir in the unsalted butter and season with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
  7. Let the sauce cool to room temperature before using.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes based on your heat preference.
This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week or frozen for longer preservation.
Adding fresh basil just before serving can enhance the flavor of your sauce.
