Description

These Mashed Red Potatoes stand out with their creamy texture and rich flavor. Made from fresh ingredients, this comfort food is perfect for quick dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds red potatoes, peeled and cut into 1" dice
  • 2 teaspoons salt, (for boiling water)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Wash the red potatoes, peel if desired, and cut into 1" cubes.
  2. Place the potatoes in a pot, cover with cold water, and add 2 teaspoons of salt.
  3. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes for 20-30 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  4. Drain the water and return the potatoes to the pot.
  5. Add the butter, sour cream, salt, and garlic powder to the potatoes.
  6. Mash the potatoes with a hand masher, adjusting the smoothness by adding milk as needed.
  7. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and top with a pat of butter and chopped parsley.

Notes

For creamier potatoes, add more milk gradually until the desired consistency is reached.
Use a potato ricer for an ultra-smooth texture.
Serve with additional butter and herbs for extra flavor.
