Description

This Salmon Bowl features tender salmon marinated in soy sauce, honey, and orange zest. It’s quick to prepare, packed with flavor, and perfect for a healthy dinner. Serve over rice for a satisfying meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large orange juiced and zested, about ½ cup of juice and 1 teaspoon of zest
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry and season it with ¼ teaspoon salt and black pepper.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, minced ginger, and sesame oil. Add the salmon and toss gently. Marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Remove the salmon from the marinade (keep the marinade) and add it to the skillet in one layer. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring, until lightly browned. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes, or until just cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Lower the heat to medium and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Add the salmon back to the sauce and stir to coat.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over cooked rice.

Notes

For an extra kick, add some chili flakes to the marinade.
Feel free to use different vegetables or toppings for added texture and flavor.
Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
