Description

These Salty Potato Chip Rice Krispie Treats offer a unique twist with savory kettle chips mixed into the sweet, gooey marshmallow treat. Easy to make, they combine the comforting flavors of butter, dark chocolate, and crispy cereal, making them perfect for any gathering or snack time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (10 ounce) bags mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 2 cups crushed kettle cooked potato chips
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick baking spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat until it bubbles and brown bits form at the bottom. Reduce heat to low once the bits appear.
  3. Add 1 bag of marshmallows and ¼ of the second bag to the butter. Stir until creamy and fully melted. Turn off the heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the rice krispies cereal into the melted mixture using a large spatula. When half mixed, add the crushed potato chips. Continue mixing until well combined.
  5. Stir in the remaining marshmallows, ensuring they are evenly distributed. Press the mixture into the prepared pan using wax or parchment paper to smooth the top.
  6. Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the rice krispy treats.
  7. Allow the chocolate to set, then cut the treats into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to melt the butter until golden to enhance the flavor.
Feel free to adjust the amount of potato chips based on your taste preference.
Use parchment paper for easier cleanup when removing the treats from the pan.
