- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder

- ½ teaspoon black pepper divided
- ¼ teaspoon ground sage
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium yellow onion sliced
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Pound chicken breasts between plastic wrap to an even ½-inch thickness.
- Season the chicken with garlic powder, salt, sage, thyme, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted.
- Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove chicken and set aside; in the same skillet, add sliced onion and sauté until soft.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add chicken broth while stirring; bring mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat and return chicken to skillet; cover and simmer until cooked through.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
