- 1/2 cup + 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg

- 4 oz cream cheese
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Brown gel food dye, optional
Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg.
- Beat butter and sugars until pale and fluffy, then mix in molasses, egg, and vanilla.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed.
- Form cookie dough balls and roll in sugar before chilling for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 14-16 minutes until edges are set.
- Cool on pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to cooling rack.
- Prepare cream cheese frosting and decorate cookies as desired.
