Description

This Spaghetti Pie is a delicious twist on traditional spaghetti. Packed with flavors from mozzarella, ricotta, and a savory meat sauce, it’s perfect for a cozy family dinner. With simple prep and comforting ingredients, enjoy a homemade meal that the whole family will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon fresh
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or italian sausage
  • ½ small onion diced
  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 cups pasta sauce or marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef over medium-high heat, draining any fat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the diced tomatoes and pasta sauce, simmering uncovered for 10 minutes until thickened.
  3. While the sauce simmers, cook the spaghetti al dente in salted water according to package instructions, then drain well.
  4. In the prepared pie plate, place the drained spaghetti and toss with butter until coated. Stir in eggs and parmesan cheese, pressing down to form a crust.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese with parsley and basil, then spread the mixture over the spaghetti crust. Top with the meat sauce.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add mozzarella on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning to the meat sauce.
This pie can be made ahead of time and reheated for a quick meal.
Feel free to use cooked vegetables for a veggie version!
