Description

Tres Leches Cake is a delicious, moist dessert with a delightful three-milk soaking that makes it incredibly flavorful. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for gatherings, making it a favorite for those who love homemade treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, or substitute 1:1 gf flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 eggs, (large)
  • 1 cup sugar, divided into 3/4 and 1/4 cups
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 12 oz evaporated milk
  • 9 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup berries, to garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F and grease a 9×13 casserole pan. Prepare three mixing bowls.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Separate the egg whites and yolks into the other bowls.
  3. Using an electric mixer on high speed, beat the egg yolks with 3/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the whole milk and vanilla.
  4. Beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and continue beating until the whites are stiff and glossy.
  5. Gently combine the egg yolk mixture with the flour mixture using a spatula. Then fold in the beaten egg whites until just mixed. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
Let the cake cool completely before soaking with the milk mixture for best results.
